Let’s go! Dancing “in-between” with Eun-Me Ahn – 1 Day Workshop in the frame of HerbstTanz 2025 in cooperation with the Berliner Festspiele as part of the Performing Arts Season.

Introduced to shamanistic practices, trained in contemporary dance in her country and in the USA, South Korean choreographer Eun-Me Ahn developed her own language over her 30 years of career. « For many people, dance is about changing position: moving from A to B. But, more than the starting point and the arrival point, the most interesting is what is happening in between, what we as performers put of ourselves in this suspended moment ». This workshop will be focusing on how we can control our body energy and centre. There is a way to control our muscles and balance. Eun-Me Ahn Company would like to teach how we can enjoy developing inside energy and translate it into movement. After a short warm up, and improvisation exercises, participants will gain insight into the repertoire of the company.
This workshop takes place in cooperation with the Berliner Festspiele as part of the Performing Arts Season.
Bio
Eun-Me Ahn is a leading figure in the Korean performing arts scene. Captivated by traditional dance and shamanistic practices, she studied contemporary dance at Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul. In 1988, she founded the Ahn Eun Me Company before moving to New York in 1991 to study at the Tisch School of the Arts. Since her return to Korea, in 2001, she has continued to develop her choreographic and performance practice, revisiting Korean classics and exploring social themes. With a repertoire exceeding 150 pieces, Eun-Me Ahn has cultivated a distinctive artistic language defined by her trademark vibrancy, positivity, and bold use of colour. She has earned international acclaim with iconic productions such as Symphoca Princess Bari, Dancing Grandmothers or Dragons, which have been performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages.
