Emerging contemporary dance makers, choreographers and companies are invited to submit their work (duet or group piece) to be presented during a collaborative dance evening with Clarisse ROUD Works at the Brighton Open Air Theatre on the 15th of May 2020.
Where: Brighton, UK
When: 15th of May 2020
Clarisse ROUD Works, founded in 2018, is an emerging company based in London. Its artistry and mission bring together a team of international highly talented artists from different art backgrounds, to commit to an intimate, thoughtful as well as a reflective journey to portray universal and captivating works.
The company will perform “Odyssey” on the 15th of May at 7.30pm at the Brighton Open Air Theatre, which is a current piece of the repertoire inspired by greek mythology rituals and symbolism staging the grief; the art of saying farewell; premiered at Resolution Dance Festival 2019.
For this very special dance evening, the company is aspiring to collaborate with other two emerging choreographers/companies to create a triple bill event. (Works should be in between 15 to 30min long)
The venue is a very charismatic and intimate amphitheatre, with a good stage size (17m long x 8m wide). The stage is constructed out of dense soil / sand, wooden sleepers and covered in Astro-Turf (which can be slippery in wet weather). The performance will go on no matter the weather conditions are as long as it remains safe for the performers or the audience. You will be required to be available to tech your work in the afternoon of the 15th. There is very limited technical availabilities. This is a non-paid opportunity however the three companies will share the box office’s split.
We are actively interested in and will prioritise works based on themes around love, journey, and multi-cultural. Choreographers/companies based in the Brighton area will be prioritised for this opportunity; however, we are open to and welcome submissions from artists based outside the region.
To apply, please send your expression of interest to contact@clarisseroud.com, with a description of the choreographer/company, a description of your work (work should be in between 15 and 30 min long), and its technical requirements as well as a video.
