This workshop is specifically crafted for professional dancers who are eager to expand and refine their craft on both an artistic and technical level.
Complex Simplicity offers dancers the opportunity to deeply explore their authenticity through the quality of their movements and presence. This approach focuses on softening both mental and physical patterns that may drain unnecessary energy from the mind and body, creating space for a more efficient, attentive, and emotionally engaged practice.
In this experience, we will focus on deepening the understanding of our unique authenticity—exploring the depth of movements and presence. We will gently challenge and refine our physical and mental habits that drain unnecessary energy, allowing for a more efficient, expansive, and joyful approach to our ongoing journey as a professional dancer.
Each day, dancers will be guided through Sita’s advanced improvisation techniques. These practices center on recognizing and releasing tension, breaking free from unconscious movement patterns, and connecting deeply to weight and groundedness. This process fosters greater awareness of your body’s capabilities, empowering you to take full control of your physical instrument and develop your personal qualities. As you engage in this work, you will experience growth not only creatively and technically but emotionally as well.
Building on this foundation of improvisation, dancers will then move into learning a specific choreography. This process encourages exploration of how to locate and express one’s individuality in the face of set material, offering insight into the balance between personal interpretation and technical execution. Sita’s movement language is fluent, sensual, and earthy, infused with a distinctive animalistic energy that emerges from human instincts.
