Beyond Motion is designed to explore the fusion of breaking and contemporary dance through movement research, repertoire, and partnering. Building on Marco’s experience with Frantics Dance Company and Company Wang Ramirez, he invites dancers to deconstruct and reimagine their movement practices, blending technical precision with creative expression.
The workshop emphasises movement research, focusing on principles of suspension, fluidity, and groundedness. Through improvisation, participants will break habitual patterns and unlock their creative potential. Marco introduces excerpts from his repertoire, offering a unique perspective on integrating urban motion and contemporary vocabularies.
These elements blend seamlessly, creating choreographies that are no longer just based on virtuosity and the complexity of the material proposed, but are enriched by theatrical elements, where the performer can express himself freely, enjoying the moment himself. Partnering is a key element, explored as a tool for storytelling and collaboration. Participants will engage in exercises that build trust and connection.
By blending repertoire with individual experimentation, dancers will learn to create sequences that reflect their personal style and artistic voice. This workshop is a creative laboratory. Ideal for dancers who are eager to deepen their technical and choreographic skills, Beyond Motion offers a transformative experience that fosters growth, collaboration, and self-expression.
Marco is the artistic Director of Frantics Co and an assistant Choreographer of Wang Ramirez. Previously, he worked as an assistant choreographer at Braunschweig Staatstheater and as a dancer for Panorama Dance Company, Theater Strahl, and Southpaw Dance Company. In his workshops and classes, he focuses on merging the dynamic elements of urban and contemporary dance, while incorporating a theatrical approach to bring depth and narrative to movement.
