Over the last few years, I have been busy exploring the intersections between the voice and body, language and movement, and form and content. In this full-bodied workshop, we will examine transformation and catharsis as forms of world-making, dancing between theatre, personal poetics, architecture, and radicality.

Where: Eden Studios, Breitestr. 43, Berlin, Germany

When: 15th – 18th of July 2025

Deadline for applications: 14th of July 2025

Over the last few years, I have been busy exploring the intersections between the voice and body, language and movement, and form and content. In this full-bodied workshop, we will examine transformation and catharsis as forms of world-making, dancing between theatre, personal poetics, architecture, and radicality.

Using the voice as an extension of the body, we will follow threads that connect memory to language to movement and generate solo and collective performance possibilities. We will dive into Modes of perpetuation juxtaposed by elements of resistance that heighten intensities and support narrative compositions.

Sourcing these elements that push beyond the body, this visceral workshop explores the frontiers of dance theatre magic to maximise the potential of your performativity, creative process, and more.

Julian Barnett works across disciplines to create performances that examine the social-political possibilities for transformation and empathy. His work often revolves around different notions of intimacy within performance and examines his own mixed-race identity as a fulcrum for inquiry, activism, and possibility.
