We are seeking a contemporary dance teacher for full-time or part-time employment.
Required qualifications and skills:
• Studies in contemporary dance and/or ballet education
• Prior experience in teaching dance to adults and/or children
• Proficiency in Greek or English
Preferred skills:
• Strong command of contemporary dance techniques and practices (Limón based technique / release technique / floorwork / composition / partnering / improvisation)
• Basic knowledge of body conditioning, anatomy, and physical care
• Ability to design and implement artistic projects with students
We Offer
• A fixed-term or open-ended employment contract with a monthly salary
• The amount of the monthly wage will be determined based on working hours, experience, education, and the candidate’s additional qualifications
• Flexibility—upon agreement—regarding pre-scheduled leave or unpaid leave
• Assistance with housing search and relocation, if necessary
• Possibility to use the school’s studios as a residency space for personal projects
ABOUT SIKINNIS
Sikinnis is a centre dedicated to the dance of today. It has been founded by Konstantinos Tsakirelis and has been operating in Heraklion, Crete, Greece since January 2020. It is a non-professional institution for study, research and experimentation around the art of dance, as it is meant and shaped in connection with the other performing arts. It is, at the same time, a house for development and promotion of artistic creation, but also for the development of a network, aspiring to become a meeting place for teachers, students, artists and the community, both locally and internationally.
Focusing on performing dance and approaching its tangent art forms, Sikinnis houses its regular classes and practices, as well as workshops, performances, presentations, exhibitions, concerts, and a residency for artists from the rest of Greece and abroad.
