The Frei Art Festival brings together artists from around the world for a full week of workshops, performances, residencies, and exchange. It’s a space for movement, experimentation, and artistic freedom.
From September 15 to 21, 2025, Studio Pro Arte in Freiburg will once again become a lively meeting place for contemporary and urban dance.
This year’s program includes intensive and workshops and classes with renowned international artists such as
Alleyne Dance,
Ultima Vez,
Thusnelda Mercy,
Rakesh Sukesh,
Edward Clug (represented by Aya Misaki),
Victor Rottier
Robozee
and others.
The classes cover a wide range of approaches—from urban dance styles to experimental composition and biographical work—and are open to both professional dancers and experienced amateurs.
Performance and Out.liers Dance Contest:
With Petrikor Danse and Ouro Collective, two outstanding companies from Canada will be performing at this year’s festival, each presenting distinctive and powerful work.
Two in-house productions will also premiere during the festival, offering fresh perspectives developed on site in Freiburg.
The Out.liers Dance Battle promises spontaneous creation and artistic encounters. Under the eyes of judges Sade Alleyne, Rubberlegz, and Kalli Tarasidou, dancers face off in this now-legendary format—where styles collide and improvisation becomes performance.
Choreographer Summit:
The Choreographers Summit is a new pilot format launched as part of Frei Art Connect—an invitation to explore new ways of working together within the international dance community.
At its core, the summit is not only about artistic excellence and visibility, but also about mutual support, building long-term relationships, and a shared commitment to a more connected and solidaric cultural landscape.
